We all know how to care. To care for and about others is part of our nature. Yet how we express our care can add more stress to our lives when we confuse care with empathy or sympathy. This becomes clearer when we look at the meaning behind these two words.
Empathy, as defined in one dictionary*, is the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts or attitudes of another. And, sympathy is defined as sharing the feelings of another especially in sorrow or trouble. Emotional over-identity with another or lack of our own emotional management can turn our care into someone else's stressful feelings of anxiety, anger or worry and eventually drain our energy.
Next time you want to express your care, do an internal check first: Is your care stress reducing or stress producing? Whether or not you know why you're feeling stressed or disturbed, take a few heart-focused breaths to disengage from any discomfort or stressful feeling. Then, recall and activate a sincere feeling or attitude of compassion or care. Give yourself the gift of self-care

Jimi led a group of about 15 from our church in a Quiet Day one Saturday in March, 2016. The day was wonderful, but what deeply impressed me is that his words and the events of the day kept floating back to me time and again during the week, which is the sign of a good and penetrating engagement.

Currently I am offering single treatments ($125.00/60mins). However, in my work I have seen my clients response well and benefit from attaining a lasting ( full assessment ) sustained profound treatment when they take advantage of a 3- 50minute session ($345.00) package. I have found that my clients make the most progress when they commit to a package of sessions.
